The Rambler occurrence is underlain by andesitic tuff of the Lower Jurassic Unuk River Formation of the Hazelton Group. The original Rambler showing was based solely on the report of a quartz vein containing pyrite and minor galena occurs in brecciated tuff (Geological Survey of Canada Summary Report 1910).

In 2009, Ascot Resources drilled three holes spaced 300 metres apart in a north-south line on the west side of the Big Missouri ridge. All holes were drilled to the east and yielded low results. Drill hole P09-037, the most northerly of the three holes (and in the vicinity of the original Rambler showing (104B 144)) was drilled underneath a surface showing of strong silicification and quartz stockwork and just south of small adit. Several chip/trench samples in the vicinity of P09-037 contained minor gold (maximum 1.51 grams per tonne gold), however silver results were high (maximum 6321 grams per tonne silver in trench Prem-09-73) (Assessment Report 31489). The best result from P09-037 was 2.93 grams per tonne gold over 1.21 metres at 62.79 metres, which is hosted at the top of an altered andesite adjacent to a Premier Porphyry intrusive; sporadic sphalerite was also noted) (Assessment Report 31489). The high silver values obtained at surface were not seen in the samples from drill core.

The three Rambler holes were targeting under the Big Missouri Ridge to test the western limits of mineralization. Mineralized showings and quartz stockwork and flooding are observed throughout the Big Missouri Ridge. Low-grade intersections were encountered in all holes indicating this area is still in the mineralized system, and there is thought to be potential for a parallel system to the Northstar (104B 146) and Unicorn (104B 044) mineralization.

in 2010, a long east-west trending trench was completed across the north end of the Big Missouri Ridge from the Rambler Zone towards the northern extension of the Unicorn zone. Samples were collected from outcrop or rock exposed in road cuts. The chip line is a discontinuous line of 100 metres, overall results are 0.16 grams per tonne gold with several sections of grading 1 to 2 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 32357).

The Dilworth property to the north of the Rambler and the Premier property (including the Rambler) were held as a single entity in the late 2000s by Boliden Ltd and Ascot Resources. See Unicorn (104B 044) for details of work done in close proximity to the Rambler and Big Missouri (104B 046), about 800 metres to the south of the Rambler, for further related details of area history and geology.
